The protracted conflict has ravaged Yemen's infrastructure, crippled its economy and has led to a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. Millions face hunger, disease and displacement, and communities have been left with limited access to basic necessities like water, energy and healthcare.

Paving the way for a more resilient future

Climate-resilient infrastructure is critical for Yemen’s future. Through two World Bank-funded projects, we’re addressing urgent climate challenges in rural and urban areas, ensuring communities can withstand future shocks. Learn more

Powering communities across Yemen

Damage to critical infrastructure has left millions without vital services. With the World Bank, we’re helping to restore reliable electricity to Yemeni communities, reviving healthcare, education, access to clean water and more. Learn more

Bringing in life-saving supplies

Through the United Nations Verification and Inspection Mechanism for Yemen – known as UNVIM – UNOPS facilitates the unimpeded free-flow of commercial items.


Since the beginning of its operations, this work has helped to facilitate the entry of over 34 million metric tonnes of food, over 17 million metric tonnes of fuel, and over 8 million metric tonnes of other cargo into Yemen.

Building a healthier future

For Yemenis facing a crippled healthcare system, access to quality care is more critical than ever. UNOPS, with support from Germany’s Development Bank, is helping to improve infrastructure, empower healthcare workers and ensure vital services reach those most in need. Read more

Providing access to essential urban services

In partnership with the World Bank, we’re restoring access to essential services in Yemen’s urban centres – from improving sanitation for half a million people in Sana'a to connecting over 200,000 people in Amran with restored roads. Read more

Supporting humanitarian mine action

Yemen's conflict has heavily contaminated the country with explosive remnants of war, posing a severe threat to civilians, particularly women and children. The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office, in partnership with UNOPS, are scaling-up mine action activities to address this deadly legacy. Learn more
