At the two-day event in Jordan, Grete Faremo discussed the importance of infrastructure that responds to the immediate needs of people and societies.

At an official ceremony this month, the Government of Japan displayed its continued support to the people and Government of Jordan with the award of a new grant, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is the main global forum for strategic advice, coordination and partnership development. This year's event is the first opportunity for the international community to review global progress of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, as well as the implementation of international instruments on disaster risk reduction. Stefan Köhler, Chair of the International Recovery Platform Steering Committee, will attend the event​.

Held in partnership with the King Abdullah II Fund for Development, the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) will provide a collaborative platform for shaping the future of MENA through public-private cooperation. This year's forum also aim to address continued geopolitical shifts and humanitarian challenges by supporting multi-stakeholder dialogue on the situation in Syria, Iraq and Libya, and the ongoing refugee crisis. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo will be speaking at the event.​
