Under a new agreement, UNOPS will construct a bridge in the Arua District of Uganda, with $1.7 million in funding from the government of Japan.

The Commission on the Status of Women is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo is attending two side events: One focused on infrastructure, sustainable development and the advancement of women on 11 March and one on social protection, public services and sustainable infrastructure on 13 March. Sanjay Mathur, Director for UNOPS Asia Region, will also participate in a side event on gender sensitive infrastructure in Asia and the Pacific on 22 March.

The Gender Dialogues aims to address the unfinished business of achieving gender parity. UNOPS will co-host the first of three events at UN City, in collaboration with the Embassies of Australia, Ireland and Norway in Denmark. UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo is delivering the opening remarks at the event.
