Niger is dependent on its road network to connect communities and to support economic activity. But poor road conditions make travel difficult, slow and dangerous.

As part of the 76th World Health Assembly 21-30 May, UNOPS will host a side event on accelerating the scale-up of sustainable clean energy solutions and increasing health infrastructure resilience in the face of climate change. UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva will give a video welcome address at the event.

With funding from the government of Japan, UNOPS worked with Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health to strengthen health services and provide a reliable energy supply to several public hospitals.

Renewable energy is touted as a solution for rural electricity access in Africa – but it could also solve the unique challenges of providing reliable energy in urban areas.

Using $1.2 million in funding from the government of Japan, UNOPS procured and delivered more than 16,000 items to 13 provinces, including hygiene and sanitation items.

Sustainable, inclusive and resilient health systems are critical to addressing global health challenges and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The new partnership will support efforts to improve the safety of road infrastructure and enhance access to safe, affordable and accessible transport systems for all.

UNOPS will support Sint Maarten’s efforts to build resilience to climate change, strengthen the rule of law, and advance progress towards the 2030 Agenda.
