The World Reconstruction Conference aims to promote resilience through post-crisis recovery. UNOPS experts will host and moderate a session on the role of the private sector for recovery in conflict and fragile situations during the conference. Nikolaj Gilbert, Director of UNOPS Partnerships Group, and Honoré Dainhi, Director of UNOPS Africa Region, are attending the event.

Coinciding with World Oceans Day, the Ocean Conference aims to support the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 (conserving and sustainably using the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development). The conference aims to be the game changer that will reverse the decline in the health of our ocean for people, planet and prosperity. Co-hosted by the Governments of Fiji and Sweden, this year's theme is 'Our oceans, our future: partnering for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14.' UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo is attending the event.

At the two-day event in Jordan, Grete Faremo discussed the importance of infrastructure that responds to the immediate needs of people and societies.

At an official ceremony this month, the Government of Japan displayed its continued support to the people and Government of Jordan with the award of a new grant, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction is the main global forum for strategic advice, coordination and partnership development. This year's event is the first opportunity for the international community to review global progress of the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, as well as the implementation of international instruments on disaster risk reduction. Stefan Köhler, Chair of the International Recovery Platform Steering Committee, will attend the event​.

At the World Economic Forum on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Phnom Penh this week, Grete Faremo participated in a panel discussion on the region’s impact on the global economy.
