The Annual Statistical Report on UN Procurement provides data and analysis on the goods and services procured by the United Nations system in support of its operations around the world.

The 2011 Annual Statistical Report on UN Procurement also features a thematic supplement on a key issue in procurement. For 2011, the focus of the supplement is on the issue of transparency and its effects on public procurement, in the context of the global drive towards a more accountable and robust system of development cooperation. The supplement provides an overview of the benefits and challenges of imposing a transparency regime in procurement, as well as case studies and contributions from practitioners and experts.

We need to build sustainability into all our development efforts. In line with the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, we must translate international commitments into action on the ground; often in some of the world’s most challenging environments. Only then will the world community be able to create the future we want.

For the third year, the Annual Statistical Report on UN Procurement also features a thematic supplement on current issues in procurement. The focus for the 2010 supplement is the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The publication includes articles by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, and Special Advisor on MDGs to the UN Secretary-General Jeffrey Sachs. The volume also brings together a number of case studies highlighting initiatives where procurement plays a central role in meeting the development goals.
