USAID and UNOPS sign Memorandum of Understanding
New agreement represents commitment to a stronger working relationship between the two organizations.
“We recognize the critical importance of strong partnerships in meeting the 2030 Agenda,” said UNOPS Corporate Legal Advisor Benedetta Audia.
We are happy to memorialize the standard terms and conditions that will apply to USAID agreements with UNOPS. We value our collaboration with UNOPS and this Memorandum of Understanding will streamline our efforts to finalize agreements going forward,”
Signed this week in Washington DC, the Memorandum of Understanding will help make way for more efficient collaboration prior to project implementation, removing administrative barriers and helping simplify the contractual process prior to work beginning on the ground.
Since 2016, UNOPS has delivered some $106 million worth of project work in partnership with USAID.
The two organizations have worked together in Haiti, Jordan, Myanmar, Nepal and Yemen, among others, with a focus on UNOPS expertise in infrastructure, procurement and project management.
Joint projects have also supported the Stop TB Partnership, the RBM Partnership to End Malaria and Scaling Up Nutrition.
“Our relationship with USAID has been nurtured in numerous projects,” Ms. Audia added. “This agreement boosts the continuation of our work together, in helping deliver expertise and results towards the Sustainable Development Goals.”
