UNOPS Executive Director appointed Chair of High-level Committee on Management
Appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Under-Secretary-General and UNOPS Executive Director Ms. Grete Faremo took office on 1 September 2019.
As Chair of the High-level Committee on Management of the UN System Chief Executives Board for Coordination, Ms. Faremo will support efforts to improve administrative efficiency and simplify business practices across the UN system.
“I welcome this opportunity and stand ready to help drive this important initiative forward at such a critical stage of UN reform,” said Ms. Faremo.
Ms. Faremo will support efforts to identify and analyze administrative management reforms; publish financial and human resource statistics; and promote staff safety and security.
Participation includes the management heads of 14 specialized agencies, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the World Trade Organization and the heads of 12 UN funds and programmes.
The Committee convenes biannually and relies on four networks – finance and budget, human resources, procurement, and information and communication technology – to identify and analyze issues of management concern.
The next HLCM meeting will be held on 15-16 October 2019 in Turin, Italy.
Ms. Faremo will assume these duties in addition to responsibilities as Executive Director of UNOPS.
