UNOPS and Bin Zayed Group sign cooperation agreement
On 11 February 2018, the Chairman of Bin Zayed Group, Sheikh Khalid Bin Zayed Bin Saqr Al Nahyan, and UNOPS Executive Director Grete Faremo met in Dubai.
The Bin Zayed Group’s activities cover four business fields, including construction and energy, technology and financial services.
Discussions at the meeting, held at the headquarters of the Bin Zayed Group, focused on collaboration between the two organizations and ways to strengthen this relationship, with the potential to work together on a range of activities in the Middle East region and the Indian subcontinent. “We recognize the importance of strengthening cooperation with the Bin Zayed Group. By working together, we are better placed to help address national priorities across the region, in support of the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Ms. Faremo.
Both parties also agreed to join forces within the framework of UNOPS Social Impact Investing Initiative, which aims to scale up efforts to meet the investment needs required to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. A memorandum of understanding was signed to this effect.
In addition, UNOPS and the Bin Zayed Group agreed to cooperate in the implementation of several large-scale initiatives in India.
