Supporting social protection in Senegal
Motorcycles are helping ensure that a social protection programme is reaching those who need it.
UNOPS procured and delivered 64 motorcycles to Senegal's Ministry of Community Development, National Solidarity, and Social and Territorial Equity as part of the Social Safety Net Support Project financed by the World Bank.
The motorcycles will make it easier for people working on social programmes to reach more remote areas. This will help improve the implementation of social protection activities aimed at improving living conditions and reducing inequalities at the community level.
“This is an opportunity for us to show these agents that we are very sensitive to their working conditions and that the government is ready to support them,” said Thérèse Faye Diouf, Minister of Community Development.
“UNOPS is proud to support Senegal's national priority of improving access to quality basic social services and social protection through transparent and sustainable procurement systems," said UNOPS project manager Seifeddine Lakhdhar.
