In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for oxygen supply systems has grown in Ethiopia.

With $13.5 million in funding from the World Bank, UNOPS is supporting Ethiopia's Ministry of Health to procure state-of-the-art oxygen generation and supply equipment as well as install oxygen plants in hospitals throughout the country.

"This partnership ensures that we are not only meeting current needs but are also preparing for future demands in healthcare and industrial sectors," said Worknesh Mekonnen, Director of UNOPS Multi-Country Office in Ethiopia and Representative to the African Union.

The oxygen plants will help decrease dependency on imported oxygen, supporting Ethiopia with meeting critical healthcare needs, enhancing healthcare delivery and improving emergency preparedness.
