Statement on announcement regarding former S3i Chief Executive
As announced by the spokesperson of the Secretary-General at the daily press briefing on 26 January 2023, the former UNOPS Chief Executive of the Sustainable Infrastructure Investments and Innovation Initiative (S3i), Mr. Vitaly Vanshelboim, has been separated from service with UNOPS following an internal accountability process in accordance with the United Nations legal framework.
UNOPS would like to express sincere gratitude for the support of the wider United Nations in this matter.
Wider management reforms at UNOPS in response to failures associated with S3i have taken place and remain ongoing. UNOPS is working closely with its Executive Board to finalize a comprehensive response plan and a draft version is publicly available here.
All reforms will be undertaken with full transparency and a publicly available status page of all ongoing actions is available here.
Appropriate actions will continue to be made in order to restore the trust and confidence of our personnel and partners, to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of our services across the globe.
Notes to editors
Since May 2022 a number of governance changes have taken place at UNOPS, including the appointment of a new acting Executive Director, the establishment of two new Deputy Executive Director positions, and the appointment of new senior leaders across many disciplines. The organization has additionally undergone a restructuring process at the management level.
