Procuring flood mitigation supplies for South Sudan

The supplies will help address the country’s vulnerability to floods while building long-term resilience in the most affected communities.

In response to recurring floods across the country, South Sudan's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has strengthened its collaboration with key partners to address urgent flood challenges in the most affected areas.

As part of a new agreement, UNOPS will coordinate closely with the Ministry and local authorities to oversee the procurement and timely delivery of essential flood mitigation supplies for Bor and Fangak Counties in Jonglei State and Pibor County in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

The project is part of the World Bank-financed Regional Climate Resilience Project for Eastern and Southern Africa, which is being implemented by the Ministry.
