On the sidelines of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly, UNOPS Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva and Executive President of CAF Sergio Díaz-Granados signed a new agreement that will further strengthen the partnership between the two organizations.
In a world facing multiple global crises, partnerships like this are instrumental. We’re consolidating the efforts we have made together with CAF to continue to improve the lives of millions of people across the Latin America and Caribbean region.
This agreement will help countries respond to shocks and stresses, including climate change, and accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. Areas of focus will include the implementation of resilient infrastructure projects across the region, as well as project management, procurement and capacity building initiatives.
“This partnership with UNOPS represents a significant step towards enhancing our capacity to deliver impactful projects across the region,” said Executive President of CAF Sergio Díaz-Granado.
“By combining CAF's financial strength with UNOPS technical expertise, we are better positioned to address the complex challenges facing Latin America and the Caribbean, ultimately contributing to the sustainable development of our member countries," he added.
Since 2017, CAF and UNOPS have worked together on projects in Bolivia, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay and Uruguay.
