DLA Piper and UNOPS strengthen a pro-bono collaboration

Global law firm DLA Piper has renewed a successful seven-year partnership with UNOPS. The new agreement will reflect the Sustainable Development Goals.

"Robust energy, water, communications, transportation, health and education infrastructure are crucial to boosting economic development and lifting millions out of poverty. DLA Piper is proud to support UNOPS as it works with the private sector to build the infrastructure needed for development in post-disaster and conflict-affected areas, as well as in economies in transition," — David Nancarrow, Partner, DLA Piper Australia.

Moving forward, DLA Piper will provide focused legal input around the contracts, administrative tools, guidance and knowledge required for the implementation of large-scale national infrastructure projects. The partners place a special focus on the role of public-private partnerships in meeting long-term infrastructure needs.

In a recent example of the collaboration, DLA Piper provided training to UNOPS personnel in Amman, Jordan, on a range of key infrastructure issues.

Benedetta Audia, UNOPS Corporate Legal Advisor, said: "Collaborating with DLA Piper increases our capacity to provide solutions to our partners and beneficiaries, and to understand local requirements in the countries in which we work."
