For more than two decades, UNOPS has supported the government of Haiti and development partners in the country to implement a range of recovery, reconstruction and disaster risk reduction initiatives – to respond to urgent needs and advance sustainable development in support of national priorities.

Our work in Haiti covers sectors including health, education, transport, energy and the environment. 

From powering hospitals with renewable energy to addressing acute food insecurity, UNOPS is committed to supporting partners to address urgent and long-term development needs amid the ongoing security crisis in Haiti.

Key Information

  • UNOPS impact in Haiti

    • Transitioned the energy supply of 5 hospitals to renewable energy, benefiting over 500,000 people. Read more.

    • Conducted damage assessments for 200,000 public buildings and housing impacted by the 2021 earthquake.

    • Rehabilitating more than 270 kilometres of rural and secondary roads across the country.

    • Expanded healthcare access and supported the government’s COVID-19 response efforts.

    • Procuring non-lethal materials and equipment for the Haitian National Police to enhance operational capacity and effectiveness.

    • Distributed over 90,000 textbooks and 61,000 school kits in the Greater South enabling around 110k students access to education to continue their studies.
